For lawyers

How lawyers get recommended by AI assistants

More customers now ask ChatGPT or Google's AI Mode instead of scrolling a list. You can't pay to be in those answers. You can make sure the places they read say something clear and true about you.

What customers actually ask

  • "Who is a good divorce lawyer in Atlanta?"
  • "Personal injury attorney near me with free consultations"
  • "Estate planning lawyer in Marietta"

Ask those yourself, in a private window, in both assistants. They often name different businesses for the same question.

Where those answers come from

For lawyers, these are the places worth checking first:

  • Your Google Business Profile
  • Avvo, Justia and Martindale-Hubbell
  • Your state bar's lawyer directory
  • Your site, with one clear page per practice area and what a first consultation costs

People ask by practice area and city. "Lawyer" is too broad. One practice area per page, named the way a client would say it.

Five things to do this week

  1. Fill in every field on your Google Business Profile, including services and hours.
  2. Ask recent customers for reviews that say what you did for them, not just a star rating.
  3. Get listed, accurately, on the directories above.
  4. Put checkable facts on your site: licenses, years in business, the exact jobs you take.
  5. Ask the same questions again next month and see what moved.
