More customers now ask ChatGPT or Google's AI Mode instead of scrolling a list. You can't pay to be in those answers. You can make sure the places they read say something clear and true about you.
What customers actually ask
- "Who is a good electrician in Houston?"
- "Electrician near me to install an EV charger"
- "Licensed electrician for a panel upgrade in Katy"
Ask those yourself, in a private window, in both assistants. They often name different businesses for the same question.
Where those answers come from
For electricians, these are the places worth checking first:
- Your Google Business Profile
- Angi, Yelp, Nextdoor and the BBB
- EV charger and generator makers' installer directories, if you're listed
- Your site, with your license number and the specific jobs you do
EV chargers, panel upgrades and generators are what homeowners ask about by name. A page for each gives assistants something to quote.
Five things to do this week
- Fill in every field on your Google Business Profile, including services and hours.
- Ask recent customers for reviews that say what you did for them, not just a star rating.
- Get listed, accurately, on the directories above.
- Put checkable facts on your site: licenses, years in business, the exact jobs you take.
- Ask the same questions again next month and see what moved.
